Azraq "Film Camp"
The Azraq Film Camp project was a collaboration with Care.org and a group of Hollywood filmmakers that come together to teach students in the refugee camp the art of filmmaking. The idea was to empower the students with their new filmmaking skills so they could share their stories with the world on their own terms. We led classes in writing, directing, cinematography and editing while the students conceptualized and created their own films throughout the week. In the end, the students created four short films that everyone absolutely loved. It was such an incredible experience to see the students skills and confidence grow through the week and then see how proud they were when they shared their films with the audience at the refugee camp. It was a incredibly emotional experience for everyone involved. One of the films, "Peace Please, along with the portraits below, were shared with the King and Queen of Jordan who loved the project so much they offered addition support to the Refugee Camp for fostering more art related projects in future. I can’t wait to see where these new skills take these students and how it will shape their future.
